Caring for your art

Though entire books have been dedicated to this topic, here are a few things to consider after buying that perfect piece.

  • Never keep artwork near windows, doors, vents or ceiling fans. Humidity and frequent changes in temperature can damage your piece.
  • To clean your artwork in glassed frames, spray some glass cleaner onto a cotton cloth and rub gently. Lambs wool is great for dusting your fanciest frames.
  • For cleaning an actual piece, dust the surface with a fine bristle brush and leave it alone. You can use a soft make up brush made of sable hair or buy a brush at your local art store. This should be done every 4-6 months for works that are not protected by glass frames.
  • Do not use any any liquid or commercial cleaners and avoid touching the artwork with bare hands.
